What should you consider before buying a hookah?

• Size - Consider use of the hookah. If you will be using it alone or traveling with it, a smaller version is more likely for you. When shopping around, you'll see ceramic, glass and acrylic bases with brass or stainless steel stems. Again, this is mostly a matter of personal preference, but avoid wood or copper bases, as these materials are very porous.

• Cost - As a general rule, you do, in fact, get what you pay for as far as quality is concerned. Prices start at under $20 and go well over $100. You may also want to consider a kit that contains tongs for your coals, screens, cleaning brushes.
